Raja Yoga and Meditation Center of Greater Philadelphia is a non-profit, down-to-earth, cozy, neighborhood yoga studio. We intend to make yoga accessible to as wide a range of people as possible, and make sure everyone has a personalized and positive experience. Raja Yoga and Meditation Center of Greater Philadelphia is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization described under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The term “Raja Yoga” means “the royal path” and refers to the eight branches, aspects, or training steps for personal evolution described in the Yoga Sutras. It implies a holistic and complete practice of yoga which offers training in yoga postures (asana), relaxation, pranayama, and meditation.

Hatha classes
Hatha classes are ideal for beginners and those seeking a more meditative experience and longer stretches with held postures.

Vinyasa classes
Vinyasa classes are faster paced with many flowing sequences including sun salutations.

Meditation classes
Meditation classes include relaxation and pranayama as preparation, but are tailored to a sitting meditation practice.

Outreach programs
As a non-profit organization, we send yoga teachers out into the community to teach free classes to those who can benefit from yoga, but who perhaps cannot make it into our studio. We fund raise for and support classes in a senior’s center, a substance abuse center, elementary schools, a community center for refugees in South Philadelphia, and for cancer patients at HUP. It is our hope to expand these programs to include providing teachers for prisons and other local community centers. If you would like to attend classes at the studio but truly cannot afford to, we are happy to work with you on a sliding scale. If you would like to donate to help support our yoga outreach programs, see the “Non-Profit Outreach” page of the website. Thank you.
